Phonostylistics is a relatively new branch of linguistics. It focuses on the phonetic means restricted to a particular situation or type of context.

Дорогие друзья, начиная сo следующего поста я буду предлагать вашему вниманию новые фрагменты увлекательного материала по предметам, изучаемым на третьем курсе второго высшего образования в МГЛУ. Посоветовавшись со своей учебной группой, я решил периодически помещать на страницы моего журнала краткое изложение ключевых занятий по следующим дисциплинам: история английского языка, грамматика, стилистика, фонетика и лексикология. При этом вы, уважаемые читатели, можете бесплатно приобщиться к части знаний, которые обходятся нашей группе недёшево во всех смыслах этого слова. Dear friends, beginning with the next entry I'll call your attention to the new fragments of materials concerning the disciplines, which are being studied during the third course of the second higher education in MSLU. Having consulted with my learning circle, I decided to post periodically some short reports to my live journal for the following subjects: a history of the English language, grammar, stylistics, phonetics and lexicology. Meanwhile, my esteemed readers, you can enjoy a part of this knowledge for free, though the knowledge costs my group a lot in all respects. And my group, in its turn, has given the opportunity to repeat and review the current material, having combined the advantages of full-time and remote learning. I hope it will help to increase the education quality in our study circle and to improve knowledge of English among friends of my blog.
I would remind you that all the information presented in these texts, is to be discussed so I'm ready to answer your questions. And as I asked before, don't be shy and inform me if you have found any mistakes in published materials.

Весь материал основывается на моих конспектах лекций по курсу "История языка и введение в спецфилологию", читаемых нашей группе доцентом МГЛУ Ириной Владимировной Резник. Тексты изложены в очень доступной форме и требуют лишь хорошего базового (в рамках средней школы) уровня владения английским. Почитайте - убедитесь! Чтобы не занимать лишнее место во френдленте, основная часть материала будет убираться под кат. Если что не понятно - пишите комментарий - подскажу, переведу. Well, let's start! May I bring to your attention a history of the English language. All the texts are based on my written records of the lecture course "Language history and the introduction to special philology". The lecturer is Irina Vladimirovna Reznik, the associate professor of MSLU. The material is very easy to understand and demands only basic skills of English (the level of secondary school). Just read and make sure! To save a free space in your blogs, the main part of texts will be hidden. If you don't understand something or if you need a translation, please, leave a comment. I will surely answer. I would be pleased if you notify me about any mistakes in spelling (grammar, vocabulary and so on). You can also ask if you need more detail information concerning the subjects of lectures.

Рад снова приветствовать вас на страницах моего журнала, дорогие друзья!
Лето выдалось довольно "урожайным": я определился с направлением дипломной работы и научным руководителем, подготовил словарные базы второго семестра, побывал на кинопремьерах, начал осваивать синтезатор (в кои-то веки!), а главное - посетил знакомые уголки природы, где в очередной раз отвёл душу в качестве фотографа-любителя. За два месяца успел соскучиться по университету, и вот, наконец, долгожданный семестр! Я снова окунулся в удивительную атмосферу изучения языков. На развлечения времени уже нет, хотя, что считать развлечением? Упражнения по грамматике и домашнему чтению - что может быть ещё увлекательнее? Теперь учёба открывает мне гораздо больше, чем раньше, и я действительно люблю этот процесс обретения знаний, хотя для кого-то это, наверное, звучит непривычно.

Частичкой того, что преподносится нашей группе на третьем курсе второго высшего, я хочу поделиться с вами. Надеюсь, что среди моих друзей найдутся те, кому это будет по-настоящему интересно. Планируется некое подобие онлайн-обучения: каждую неделю вы получаете новый материал, который можете обсудить со мной на страницах этого журнала. Отличие лишь в том, что я не задаю домашних заданий (поскольку сам являюсь учеником), а доступ к предлагаемым материалам открыт всем желающим. Добро пожаловать! :)

I'm glad to see you again, my dear friends who read my live journal!
The summer was rather "fruitful": I found a supervisor for my graduation work, prepared word bases for the second term, saw film premieres, began to study my synthesizer (at last!), but the main thing I did is visiting my familiar nature corners. I distracted my mind there by the favourite hobby - photographing. You can see my photos on Yandex:

That two months I was weary for the new semester to come. And finally, it has begun! I plunged into the amazing atmosphere of language study! I have no time for entertainments now, but what we take our for entertainment? Exercises in grammar and home reading - what can be more fascinating? Now studies is discovering much more for me, than before. I really love this process of getting knowledge, though it may sound unusual for somebody.

I would like to share a bit of our group's learning with you. I hope that it will be seriously interesting for some friends. That will be something like on-line training: you can receive a new material every week, you can discuss it with me here. The differences is in the absence of home tasks (because I'm just as a student, as my readers are), and in the free access to every material for every person. So you are welcome! :)

How do you do, my dear friends! I haven't enough time for blogging these days, but some educational topics I'm working at now could be interesting for you, I suppose. One of the topics sounds as the following: who is cultured person (also personality)? A man of culture? Or, let me be more specific - who is cultured student in our country (I mean Russia)? Can you give any definition? I'd like to remind that our discussion may be in English and in Russian as well.
